It’s a Saturday afternoon, and I roll up to The Hotel at Midtown, Kyle meets me a the front desk and takes me up to where Cameron and their family are relaxing and getting ready for portraits and the day ahead celebrating their wedding.
After getting my photography gear situated and checking out the amazing design of this member’s club I bring Cam & Kyle into the bedroom and get right to it. Creatively speaking…
They met bartending at local Chicago dive back in the day. They’re a very laid back couple and treat everyone they work with as friends. Being an avid planner and coordinator, Cameron made sure I was taken care of. Kyle was also very open to ideas and went with the flow. I had fun posing them, and they were naturals in looking iconic, it made my job easy.
My associate photographer arrived shortly after and we ventured around the hotel scouting locations for family portraits and more couple portraits. We walk into a bar conference room and start taking photos of the couple when an old service industry friend walks in and recognizes them. Turns out he’s the beverage director of the bar at Midtown Athletic Club. So naturally, he brings a bottle of champagne up to our next photo location, the rooftop.
After our portrait session at the hotel, Cameron & Kyle’s loved ones gathered at Club Lucky to celebrate the one way they knew how. Open Bar & Family style. It was so fun to see everyone come together and catch up in a retro style diner known for their martinis. Right away, Cameron gives us wristbands and tells us to order, so I have what she’s having….A dirty martini.
There was no shortage of inspiration at this space, just a shortage of space in the walk way. Fortunately, we got the photos we needed and then every one started piling in.
We ate a family style meal starting with bruschetta appetizers, then salad, pasta, chicken, and tiramisu for dessert. Wow, what a celebration. Everything felt like THEM.
Thanks for having us Cameron & Kyle! Can’t wait to see where your journey takes you.
